Villa Tyssøy
Size:
260 m2
Location:
Tyssøy, Norway
Status:
Completed 2018
Like a sculpture or a piece of land art, Villa Tyssøy is a characterful composition that can be appreciated from all directions. Given the natural beauty of this island setting, it was particularly important to both Todd Saunders and his clients that the house should not only be a gentle presence within the landscape but that it should also have an engaging sculptural quality. Consisting of three distinct elements, framed by a low stone wall, the house can be fully valued from any perspective, with no secondary elevation or aspect of afterthought to this modern but modest farmstead. This 21st Century ‘tun’ consists of a master building to serve as a family residence, a multi-purpose studio and also a compact storage building suited to multiple uses.
